C. Roberto Palma, M.D.

Dr. Palma is Board Certified by the
American Board of Plastic
Surgery; the only official body authorized to certify fully trained Plastic
Surgeons, and has been practicing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for
over 25 years. He received his medical training and education at
some of the best universities in the nation.
After graduating from Harvard Medical
School in Boston, Massachusetts, with an M.D. degree, Dr. Palma
served his General Surgery Internship and Residency at the
University of California in San Francisco. He went on to complete
his Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Stanford
University Medical Center in California. His training included
fellowships in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery at Roswell Park Memorial
Institute in Buffalo, New York, and a Plastic Surgery Fellowship in
Calgary, Canada.
He is a member of the medical staff at multiple local hospitals and has served
as Chief of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Head of
the Division of Plastic Surgery at North Ridge Medical Center and various other
hospitals in Fort Lauderdale.
In 1996 Dr. Palma opened the
Sunrise Intracoastal Plastic Surgery Center, which
is fully accredited by the
AAAASF (American Association
for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities, Inc). He remains
its Medical Director and on-staff Plastic Surgeon. The facility also features a
mini medi-spa which offers medically supervised skin care and rejuvenation
services by a full-time Medical Aesthetician.
Over the years, Dr. Palma's practice focused more and more on Aesthetic
(Cosmetic) Surgery. He recently introduced into his practice the
SimpleLIFT, an innovative
technique of face/neck lifting which evolved over his many years of experience
in the field. The procedure, usually performed under local anesthesia, offers
dramatic results with significantly reduced cost and "downtime". (SimpleLIFT

In addition to his surgical skills and experience, Dr. Palma is considered an
expert in Cosmetic Medicine or non-surgical procedures to make patients look
younger. He is one of the most experienced users of Paralyzing agents such as
Botox and Filler/Volumizers such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvaderm, Radiesse,
Sculptra and other FDA approved products. His excellent technique making lips
look younger with these products recently made the
local evening news.
As of May, 2009, Dr. Palma has been approved as a Principal Investigator by the
FDA to insert the “Ideal
Implant”, a new type of saline-filled breast implant which offers the first
truly innovative new technology in over 20 years. He is one of only a handful of
surgeons in the USA approved to insert these new implants.
Dr. Palma is an experienced and skillful cosmetic surgeon who has a
well-deserved reputation as one of the top Plastic Surgeons in Florida. He has
been chosen for three consecutive years by his fellow physicians as one of the
"Best Doctors in South Florida", is listed in Castle Connolly's List of
"America's Top Doctors", as well as the Consumers' Research Council of America
"Guide to America's Top Surgeons".
Originally from Cuba, Dr. Palma arrived in the USA with his parents and 2
sisters as a pre-teen. He is fiercely proud of his adopted country and loves his
bicultural roots. He is fluent in Spanish. He has 2 grown children, a daughter
soon to be a medical school graduate heading for a career in Ophthalmology and a
son who is passionate about wild life ecology and soon to have a degree in the field.
Dr. Palma is a Volunteer Surgeon and has been on the Board of Directors of
Interplast, a nonprofit organization that provides free Plastic and
Reconstructive surgery to under-privileged patients, mostly children, in
underdeveloped countries. He is currently a member of multiple national and
local organizations including the prestigious American Society of Plastic
Surgeons, and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Palma is
also on staff and has privileges at most of the local area hospitals.
